I saw a gorgeous full moon out tonight with faint paraselenae (moondogs or false moons).  I was ecstatic, as this is one of my favorite things in the whole world to see, ever.

Also, shoes.  Mine has a hole in it dammit.

Kinda like this - [link] , but not nearly as bright. I'm keeping my eye out for brighter ones now that winter is here.

They occur all over the world in all months, you just need to have ice crystals in the atmosphere and a clear night when the moon is near the horizon. Sundogs/parhelia are more common than moondogs/paraselenae, but these halos are extraordinarily beautiful to those that bother to look for them. :D
